What Is Floating In My Head

  • I have to write a graduation speech. Any suggestions for me? I was picked to be the graduation speaker by my peers and I am beyond honored and excited to be the speaker. However I’ve only got a few notes written, and graduation is just a little more than a month away. Plus, the tricky part is that I’m graduating from a creative writing MFA program. You can’t write a sloppy speech if you’re getting your MFA in writing (with a graduating class of other writers).
  • I’ve been trying very hard not to waste money. In doing that, I’m limiting myself to only getting coffee once a week. Besides that, I’m making it myself. Now, I like my homemade iced coffee, but yet I still yearn for a coffee every time I drive by Dunkin. I think I just like it because someone else makes it for me. However, I’ve been putting some of Wolverine’s chocolate powder (for chocolate milk) in my iced coffee and it is making it sooo yummy.
  • I am in a state of half-lists. I keep making lists for work, school, fun, vacations, restaurants I want to eat at, etc. but the problem is that I either write the lists on post-its and lose them, or I write down one or two items but not the whole list!
  • My two blog series, To the Person Who and Weekly Internet finds, are ummm, napping. I promise to have them up again next week. Don’t you worry.

I don’t, but I should. Thank you for the suggestion. I just need to figure out how to use it an sync it everywhere. I’ve heard good things about it. That is the kind of thing I need. Something that will store all the lists and I can check on my phone and computer.

The phone version is a little confusing. The same thing happened to me, I downloaded the phone version first then dumped it because I couldn’t figure it out. Start with the desktop version for you computer instead. Worked for me!

What an honor to be chosen! I don’t have any advice or suggestions because I know you’ll be amazing and uncliched anyway!

I second the Evernote suggestion. I keep all of my notes and writing in there too. I can snap a photo from my phone and have it go directly there–I use it for receipts, books I see while out and about that I want to get from the library, letters to Hannah, short story ideas, and on and on and on. It’s an awesome program.

Will your speech be recorded? Please say yes!

Aww, I know! I am SOOO Honored to be chosen. Honestly, I couldn’t begin to describe how kind my fellow students are and how excited I am to do the speech. Maybe that is why I am so nervous about what to even begin to say…because I care so much?
I’m definitely going to have to look into Evernote, I downloaded it into my phone once, but I was confused by it so I never really learned how to use it. I guess I can try again!
I don’t think the school is recording my speech, but I have asked my father to record it. I don’t know if I will post it on the blog (maybe?) but if I don’t, and you honestly want to see it, I will send it to you 🙂
      You’re such a kind friend!
